Lastest update: Charles celebration of life will be held on Aug 6,2023 @2pm at Elstonville Sportsman Club. Please come celebrate with us in remembering my dad and bring some fun stories. We want to thank everyone for helping, visiting, and thinking of our family through this time. These past couple months have been a wild roller coaster ride. Thank you for helping with the financial burden that this awful cancer has made for my family just a little better.

My family thanks everyone for their support through the last couple months. Today my father passed. He fought his hardest through it all. I will update soon with a date for his celebration of life.

Since my last post a lot has happened. After the radiation and chemo my dad was suggested to try infusion (called Avastin). This was in hopes to reduce/ eliminate the steroid he has been on since the beginning. He ended up doing one appointment, these were to happen every couple weeks. The side effects to the infusion proved to be too much for him and have cause some irreversible damage to some organs. He finally had his follow up MRI today and an oncology appointment. Where he stated he did not want to ever do another MRI again. The findings were not what we were hoping for. The tumor did not shrink and there had been no real improvements along with the effects of having radiation on the brain was starting to appear. With this being said as a group we finally decided that my dad will be kept comfortable and we started the work of getting hospice in home for him. This decision didn’t come easily but with the prognosis and my dads wishes in mind he will stay at home for as long as possible. The family really appreciate every single one of you for coming to visit and donating it has gone to pay bills along with supply’s that have been needed to keep my dad comfortable.

Yesterday, was the last of 5 days of radiation and chemo for my dad. Hopefully this will slow the progression of the cancer. To say he was a character yesterday would be an understatement. I want to thank everyone who is helping and sharing. The support is amazing. I appreciate each and everyone one.

Update time… My dad finally had his follow up appointment for the biopsy. The news we received today was not great. He was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma. There is no “cure” but there is treatment to keep it at bay. We are not sure how much time he may have left as this is a very fast growing tumor. My parents need as much support as possible now and with all the potential for uncertainty to come. With my dad not being able to work any more it will put my parents into a financial hardship. Please consider helping if you are able.

Hi, my name is Paulina, Charles oldest daughter. On Monday April 10th, 2023 Easter Monday, I went with my parents to the ER after my dad had fallen over night. Now if you know my dad he put up a fight and even went to work that day. They ran a whole bunch of test and found out that he has a brain tumor. My dad was admitted to the hospital and put on meds to help with some swelling. On Thursday, they did a biopsy and sent him home Friday with instructions on to not drive or work. This has put a financial hardship on my parents as my dad is the only one who works in the house and with the uncertainty to come we are just trying to limit the impact of the news last week and the expenses to come.

If you know my dad or family they will gladly help whenever they are able either by helping with cars, home improvements, and donating to help other causes. My dad has been through a lot and still try’s to joke and bring smiles to other faces. Please consider helping trying to lift the burden for my parents.
