Charlie's Place UK Budgie Sanctuary

Charlie's Place UK is a small, self-funded (single income) sanctuary, taking in budgies who are either in very poor living conditions or having to be rehomed by families for reasons of bereavement and/or cost of living. We're members of the UK Budgerigar Club and take professional education from an avian specialist vet to make sure the care given to our birds is the best it can possibly be.

From petrol for collections, to enrichment toys, air purifier filters (for our PBFD affected budgies) to specialist avian disinfectant and a fully-stocked budgie medicine cabinet, there's a lot to cover. There are times where money has to be handed over to get budgies out of poor living conditions, vet bills to pay and, of course, a varied, wholesome diet.

I make a *lot* of perches and toys myself to keep costs at a minimum, whilst not detracting from the quality of life the birds enjoy. With former owner permission, I sell any cages that come with surrendered birds (post a thorough disinfection) along with many of my own personal possessions to help bolster funds, too, but if I'm honest, it's becoming a struggle to finance everything on my own.
