Charlotte Abbott Cancer Fund
Donation protected
If you know the Abbott family, you likely know about their tough battle with cancer several years ago when Destry was fighting leukemia and then Charlotte was diagnosed with breast cancer just a short time into Destry's treatment. This was an extremely tough situation for both of them to be battling cancer at the same time, yet thanks to their love, family, friends, much determination and perseverance they were able to overcome the odds and their cancer went into remission.
However, after nearly 5 years since they were both initially diagnosed, Charlotte was recently informed that her cancer has relapsed and has spread throughout her body. To make things worse, shortly after her diagnosis she had a bad accident at home that broke her back, requiring emergency hospitalization and a delicate spinal surgery. She is still in the hospital and will need significant care to recover from her back injury as well as trying to go through the chemo and radiation treatments to fight her advanced stage cancer.
This is going to be a very trying time for Destry and Char physically, emotionally and financially. The Abbott's primary source of income is from the riding schools and classes that Destry puts on nearly daily. He has had to cancel all of his upcoming classes to take care of Charlotte, so even though their normal expenses plus the new medical expenses from the cancer treatment and back hospitalization will be dramatically increasing, their source of income has gone away nearly overnight.
Many of Destry and Charlotte's friends have asked how they can help the family in this time of need. This fund is one way that would be tremendously helpful and all funds will go solely to Destry and Charlotte to help with medical expenses and the loss of income. Neither Destry or Charlotte would ever ask for something like this, but their close friends and family know this is one way that will allow them to focus on Charlotte’s tough battle. Please reach out if you have other ideas or would like to help them out in other ways.
