Get Charlotte to The Oxford School of Drama

My name is Charlotte, and I am fundraising to get myself to my dream drama school, The Oxford School of Drama.

This year marked my third year of auditioning for acting courses and after completing the foundation course in March at OSD, I was offered a place at the school to finish my training on the one year course (the course completed by many accomplished actors in the industry including Claire Foy!!)

With only 19 places available and over 1000 applicants, as well as the school itself being one of the Top 5 drama schools in the country, the audition process is highly competitive so you can probably imagine how thrilled I was - I honestly think I’m still in a little bit of shock even now!

When I trained on the foundation course, I independently paid for my living costs as well as the £8000 fees to do the course, due to the lack of government funding for foundation students. Unfortunately this year there is little government funding available to me since I am 24 and the DADA scheme which funds most students on the course is only available from the ages of 18-23, meaning I will once again be faced with financing my own fees and living costs.

While on foundation I worked locally in Oxford as much as I could but with around 40 contact hours per week at the school this left me only weekends and any holidays to try and replenish my savings. As I used all my previous savings to fund my training last year I am in a much weaker position financially as I head into my final year of training.

Any money that is raised by this page will be a massive help to get myself started with a the deposit for my student house, and any essentials that I can grab before I start my training.

I am a very proud person and hate the thought of not being able to support myself meaning that I am often reluctant to ask for help when I need it and I completely understand how difficult things are financially for everyone right now.

However after so many years of trying to achieve this dream I don’t want to allow my own stubbornness to result in having to turn down my place. Any donation no matter how small is appreciated more than I can even say.
