From January - March of 2024, Chase and Emma Kirby will embark on a journey to volunteer and serve refugees from all over the Middle East and Africa. Thousands o refugees are fleeing their homes from warfare, governmental conflict, and unfathomable circumstances. Join Emma and Chase as they pursue this calling through a non-profit organization called Beyond Borders.
Beyond Borders is under the protection of EuroRelief, a Greek Evangelical Christian Organization "that exists to serve and show compassion to suffering and displaced people in Greece and the surrounding area." EuroRelief is responsible for attending to basic needs such as shelter, social care, education, medical needs, and more for asylum seekers.
Through Beyond Borders, Emma will be engaging in non-formal educational opportunities for children of all ages as well as women. BB uses a trauma-informed approach to teach English as a Foreign Language, while still including expressive arts (dance, art, music) and peacebuilding strategies to attempt to heal the psychological and emotional needs of students. Chase will be partnering with EuroRelief to help out with welding/automotive repairs, constructing semi-permanent housing for migrants, tailoring, carpentry, and participating in the Refugee Men's Community Engagement.
This opportunity is not something Chase and Emma can do alone. If you would like to support this couple, first consider praying for the Kirby's for their protection and guidance as they work towards this goal. Throughout the next few months, Chase and Emma will also have various fundraising opportunities near the Three Lakes area if you are interested in volunteering for those events. Lastly, consider donating financially to assist with their monetary needs. The funds raised for their trip help cover the cost of housing, transportation on the island, airfare, groceries, visas, traveler's insurance, training, and more.
