Chase and Megan Welch
Donation protected
On Saturday 14th, 2023 Chase and Meg Welch were involved in a life-threatening motor vehicle accident. They were both severely injured. Megan almost bled out that night, requiring as much blood to be given to her as is in the human body. Thank God they are both now stable and recovering. However, expenses and medical bills are already piling up. Chase and Meg are now in need of funding to ensure their sweet children can continue to get the education they need, and engage in their extracurricular activities. This tragic event could easily hurt their financial situation for the rest of their lives. We all want to help, and the best way to do that is by supporting this GoFundMe account. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Medical personnel on site did not expect to find any survivors. And against all odds Chase and Megan survived. Chase faired much better than his wife with a broken femur, broken arm, lacerated kidney and liver, and a serious concussion. For those of you who know Chase, he really didn't need any more bumps to the head...
Sadly Megan faired much worse, with doctors saying that she was 20 minutes from bleeding out when she arrived at the hospital. She broke her left leg and right foot, had a compound fracture of her right pinky, ruptured her spleen which had to be removed, lacerated her liver, broke three ribs and three vertebrae, crushed her pelvis, and broke her right hip. She also suffered serious internal bleeding that almost killed her, and once that was fixed, her right lung collapsed, forcing her medical to perform a chest decompression via needle asperation and to insert a chest tube.
You may be wondering what does recovery look like? Chase will be in a wheelchair into January 2024, he will require physical therapy and will be walking unassisted by March. Meg will go to a rehab center following her discharge from the hospital, and from there will return home where she will require a special bed and other equipment to allow her any degree of mobility. It could take up to a year for her to regain the ability to walk on her own.
For those of you who wish to contact the family please reach out through family friends.
Last, but certainly not least, tragically a local 23-year-old man named Trevynn Awkard lost his life in the accident. For those who wish to donate to his family to support them in this extremely hard time, you can find his information here
Chase and Megan, as well as the entire Welch and Bricco (Megan's maiden name) family, thank you for your help and generosity from the bottom of their hearts! The outpouring of support has been truly humbling and we all know we are blessed.
