                                                         'Time to Teach'   ///  ´Tiempo de Enseñar´

Since 2003 Rebekah has been teaching in Uruguay as a missionary teacher. One by one, she home schooled Pastor Archie & Ruth Perez´s five children, (as well as others) preparing them for college.
But since that task is now completed, we feel that it is time to press forward.
Instead of teaching one student at time, what if we had a whole school of students learning God's Word as they are taught?
Christian education (or the freedom and availability of this option) is something we as North Americans often take for granted.
There is no Christian school even close to us, and homeschooling is not allowed in Uruguay (in elementary grades) . The quality of education has declined here in the last several years, not to mention the social agenda the government wants to feed our children.
We have decided to take this important step towards getting a Christian school started here in Colonia
Around 30 students (K4-12) just from our church would very likely enroll in the Christian school as soon as we start one. We already have a building (the church and seminary in the Real) with classrooms and enough space to use for a school. But we don´t have teachers to put in the classrooms.

We´re convinced that it´s time for Rebekah to validate her teaching degree (make it usable) so that it can be better used for God´s glory. After all, we're not planning to go anywhere, so she needs her degree to be worth something here!
We have previously put off this task …always hoping that it would somehow get easier (or cheaper!) to do, or that other Christian teachers from Uruguay would appear so we wouldn´t have to go through this process. But that just hasn´t happened. And a Christian school has been on the Future Plans list for our church for several years now - so we see this as a step of faith towards this goal.

Since Rebekah's teaching degree was awarded in the U.S. (Maranatha) there is a process we need to go through for it to be accepted here in Uruguay.
We have carefully studied the steps required to validate Rebekah´s teaching degree – how to go about it, and what it will cost. As there are many documents (college syllabi, HS & college transcripts, etc.) that need to be submitted for this procedure, their translation from English to Spanish is the greatest expense. And it needs to be done by a certified, public translator (I can't do it myself).
As a result, we are sharing this need with you, we trust that this step towards a future Christian school in Colonia, will reap eternal benefits in the lives of our children and many others in the country of Uruguay!

All the donated funds will be used for translation services and paperwork fees for this validation process. The public translator is waiting for our OK to begin translation of Rebekah's studies. We are trusting in God's good hand of guidance and His perfect timing for this validation process, as well as the next step towards starting a Christian school here in Colonia!
