Checkers gymnastics flood damage
Donation protected
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that Checkers gymnastics and tumbling club has had to close until further notice. This is due to the extreme flash flooding over the weekend.
Checkers has been at the heart of many children and their families since opening in 1982 and has provided a safe space and the opportunity to go far in the gymnastics world.
The club has taken many of its gymnasts to represent England across the UK, these gymnasts still have upcoming competitions and their need and desire to continue training is now in jeopardy.
Due to such extreme flooding a huge amount of their equipment has been destroyed by water damage and replacing this is extremely costly when as a club they can no longer trade.
Lots of the children have big competitions coming up and with no place to train their moral is very low.
We are hopeful that with great community spirit and the support of everyone involved we can try and get the gym up and running as soon as possible.
Any funds we can raise will go straight into supporting the club purchase new mats, foams flooring etc. The business obviously has insurance, but this takes a great deal of time to sort. We are just looking to give them a boost in getting started with this huge task.
If anyone is able to help us in any way be it financial, materials or even just to donate their spare time to help with working in the gym it would be hugely appreciated.
