When we rescue an animal in need, we never know what challenges lie ahead or how much care they will require. Sweet Cheeks has been with us for over a year, battling one health setback after another.

Just days before her rescheduled spay, Cheeks suddenly became lethargic, stopped eating and drinking, and developed a bloody discharge. We rushed her to the emergency hospital, where she was diagnosed with pyometra—a deadly uterine infection that requires immediate surgery. If left untreated, pyometra can be fatal.
