Chef Lauro Romero

This fund is dedicated in the memory of Chef Lauro Romero. Many of us were lucky to call Lauro a leader, mentor, friend, and collaborator over his lauded career. He was a true inspiration and a pioneer going on to not only make his mark on the Portland food scene but also went as far as transforming what it looks like. Aside from his many accomplishments anyone who knew him would tell you that what really made his eyes light up was his pride in his two amazing daughters.

We, his close family and friends, are setting up this fund to help cover funerary expenses as well as set up a fund to support and care for his most important legacy, his daughters.

To be frank the food and service industry is a tough field to work in and oftentimes doesn't leave much for rainy days or emergencies. Even accomplished chefs like Lauro are impacted by the harsh realities of the industry.

His eldest daughter is currently in her freshman year in the Neuroscience program at UC Berkeley with dreams of entering the medical field. We would love to come together as a community to ensure that we can honor his dreams of having her complete her goals and get through school.

Our hope is that we can honor his name and hard work by ensuring that his daughters have a bright and successful future.
