Chef Troy Sheller in Hospital After Accident
Donation protected
Chef Troy is always one of the first to volunteer his time & talent whenever an organization is looking for help raising money. Now, Chef Troy needs help from the community.
Driving home from an event he was working on Friday night March 18th, a deer darted into the middle of the road. As Chef Troy swerved to miss hitting it, he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree. At first, he was taken to a small nearby hospital but they did not have the facilities to deal with this type of trauma so he was transferred to another hospital in Charlottesville where he was rushed to the ICU and put on a ventilator.
At the time of this writing, he has had knee surgery and has seven rib fractures. After 2 days, he is now conscious and off the ventilator, but in much pain and under observation. While we assume he will make it out of Intensive Care and ultimately have a strong recovery, things are going to be very challenging. As a Private Chef, Troy will be unable to work for the forseeable future as he heals and re-gains his strength. He will be facing huge medical bills, ambulance bills, rehab, PT and more. As a loving, devoted husband and father, there’s no way to underscore the dramatic financial hit to his family’s stability.
If we can come together to alleviate some of Chef Troy's impending financial burden, it will make a huge impact on his psychological well-being, which will inevitably affect his ability to heal.
The hospitality industry does not have standard healthcare or 401K benefits which is why we're looking to the CommUNITY for help.
There's really no amount too small and every dollar will help. (There's also no amount too large either, for those who know Chef Troy's incredibly generous heart.)
