Chelan County Jail K-9 Program
Donation protected
The Chelan County Regional Jail in Wenatchee Washington recognized the need for a drug interdiction program within its facility to increase safety and security. This program was implemented this year, with the installation of a mail scanner and body scanner to help detect narcotics that were being smuggled in. The third part of the program is the use of a drug sniffing dog. In 2019, Deputy Jacob Lewis was selected to be jail's first K-9 Handler. Along with being the first handler for the jail, Deputy Lewis and his soon to be partner will also be the 2nd dedicated K-9 team for a county jail in the State of Washington. Deputy Lewis and his K-9 partner will also be utilized within the community, assisting other agencies when needed. Right now the jail is asking the community to help support this much needed program. Like most law enforcement agencies, the jail's K-9 program is being supported through donations and support from the community and local businesses. The money raised from this fundraiser will help purchase equipment, pay for continued training, and general care for the K-9. On behalf of the Chelan County Regional Jail, we thank you for your support.
