Chelan County Mountain Rescue for Dr Michelle Yao

On Monday July 18th, 2022 the CCMR rescued Michelle and her climbing partner Lauren from Snow Creek Wall. Tragically we lost our beloved Michelle, devastating her family, friends and cancer patients. Unimaginable as it is, without the rapid response of the CCMR, it could have been worse and we are so deeply grateful to them for their service. Please donate to CCMR so they can continue to save people who love the wilderness, like Michelle.

Dr. Yao was a Radiation Oncologist at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA, where she saved hundreds of patients from cancer. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from Harvard University and the University of Michigan Medical School. Michelle loved skiing, mountain biking, climbing, and fishing with her friends and family, often from her cabin in Plain, WA, and many points beyond.

Chelan County Mountain Rescue is a nonprofit all-volunteer organization of experienced climbers dedicated to saving lives through search, rescue, emergency medical care and mountain safety education in Chelan County, Washington.
