Chellaston Community Defibrillator
This GoFundMe page has been set up by Cllr Ross McCristal to raise £2,000 for a life saving defibrillator. He said, "With the support of Homefields School and the local community we want to purchase a defibrillator to be placed on the outside of Chellaston Medical Centre. The recent events in which we all witnessed a professional footballer, Christian Eriksen, have a cardiac arrest and was saved by a defibrillator has highlighted the importance of having defibrillator as close to hand as possible.”
Head Teacher of Homefields Primary Sarah Coleman added, “Currently we do not have defibrillator on the Bonnie Prince estate that can serve our community 24hr a day 7 days a week. We know that by ensuring the defibrillator arrives swiftly is paramount to a successful recovery. Having the defibrillator close by may just save a life.”
Paula Scaife, from the British Heart Foundation added, "Unfortunately, Only 1 in 10 people will survive an out-of-hospital Cardiac arrest. For every minute someone is in cardiac arrest, without CPR and access to a defibrillator, their chances of survival drops by up to 10%. By having a defibrillator in your community you can play an important part in saving more lives."
