Chelmsford Road Little Free Library

Hi - I’m Shema. In September 2020, we set up a little free library on our front wall in memory of our eldest son who was stillborn. The library is one of the only ones in our area. It’s well loved and used, and brought some much needed joy during various lockdowns. We’ve made a point of focusing on kids books celebrating diversity and got 100s of donations through Twitter during COVID.

Sadly it hasn’t survived two winters and we need to replace it. Lovely local carpenter Vlada is building us a new one and only charging for materials (£150). I’m now raising money for the materials and a bit extra for Vlada. I’ll make up any shortfall. Any surplus donations will be used to buy paint, and donated to our local food bank.
