Chelsea NY Beautification - 6th Ave plantings
Spende geschützt
Update Apr 18, 2021: Funding will also go towards self publishing a children's picture book telling this story that it only takes one person to make a difference.
I'm Just One Person trying to make a difference in the Chelsea neighborhood, one tree pit and one bike lane micro-garden at a time.
Visit for more pictures and info: https://www.facebook.com/JstOnePerson (all that's missing is U)
I purchase the plants, maintain and water the gardens to prevent them from becoming garbage pits.
The City does not!
Recently, CBS News did a feature story on me:
https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2020/09/17/beautify-new-york-city-david-kass-plants-sixth-avenue-manhattan/
If you've ever stopped to appreciate the gardens as you walk by, then it's mission accomplished.
Unfortunately, it's really not a 'just one person' job. And the environment to maintain the gardens on the busy streets of Manhattan is brutally harsh. Trash always ends up in them, drought and heat take their toll, and then there is theft. People often think the beds are a free-for-all and pluck the plants right out!
A few of the beds have even had vehicles crash into them and wipe them out.
It costs over $125/bed per year to keep them looking good in every season. Some of the beds need iron fencing which can cost approx $2000/garden. This campaign is also to add fencing to some of them.
Now's your chance to do your part.
You can be Just One Person too!
Contribute what you can to be a part of the beautification. No contribution is too small.
I thank you! Our neighbors thank you! The visitors thank you! The birds and butterflies thank you!
Let's keep this...
