Chelsea Sik - Foreign Planetary

Hello, my name is Chelsea Sik, I am the executive producer and lead actress of the short film "Foreign Planetary". I'm fundraising to compensate for the costs of bringing this short film to a wider audience.

"Foreign Planetary" follows a young woman named Angie in the near future. On the brink of her last day on Earth before being forced to return to her planet of origin, she must find a way to stay in her new home.

As the executive producer of this film, I have always believed in the art of storytelling, which is why I created and invested in this project that tells the bold story of an immigrant's journey. The film is inspired by my own personal experiences as an international student, and I know that there are many others like me who can see themselves in Angie's story. So far I have self-funded it with my savings from all my odd jobs since I was 15 years old in Malaysia, but due to some unfortunate unseen personal costs this year, I would like to extend the opportunity to donors/investors who also believe in this story and wish to financially contribute to this film so that we can finally share this important story to a wider audience.

The funds will be used towards marketing, festival fees, and distribution. In return, I intend to thank our donors through our @foreignplanetary instagram page or (if allowed by imdb to add more than 30 thank you credits) give our donors a name credit as a thanks on our film's imdb page.

Since we completed the film in February 2023, we have been submitting it to several film festivals. The first news of our submissions was from the IMDB qualifying competition of the LA Independent Women Film Awards; we were awarded "Best Science Fiction"! We are excited to see how our short film will be received this year but we could use your help in sharing this timely immigrant story with people who will resonate with these experiences.
