Chelsea's Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Chelsea was recently diagnosed with Stage 2B Cervical Cancer. Her tumor causes her a great deal of pain and is too large to be removed surgically. This leaves radiation and chemotherapy as the current course of action to eliminate the cancer. Chelsea recently opened her own pet grooming business. As a result, she did not have a satisfactory income to be able to afford the doctor appointments and treatments. After going through a great deal of red tape for months she was finally able to obtain insurance that did not start in January but rather as soon as possible. She still had to wait a full month to be able to use it, and found that no oncologists in our area or Dallas/Ft. Worth area would take the insurance. We made the drive to Oklahoma City and finally got her in to see a gynecological oncologist (over three months after the tumor was first found). It was at that visit that she was staged and provided with possible treatment options. The insurance doesn't cover much of the treatment and in addition to the diagnosis and need for time to do the radiation and chemo, she was recently informed that her landlord is unwilling to work with her to be able to keep her shop open. Effective in 3 days, she will no longer have an income and will be closing the doors on her dream.
Chelsea is a very dear friend of mine and one of the strongest, most independent people that I know. In the aftermath of an abusive relationship of mine she moved me across the country, opened her home to me, helped me get on my feet, introduced me to new friends in a new town, helped guide me to places of employment, etc. She has never asked for anything in return.
During this difficult financial time, I ask that you please help Chelsea to be able to get her treatments without having to worry about the financial burden associated with them, especially in light of the closing of her business. Anything you can do will help. Please share as well. Thank you!
