Chelsea's Cancer and Fertility Fund
Donation protected
Most of you know that I was diagnosed with cervical cancer this summer, I had surgery in September to remove several lymph nodes and my cervix. This surgery was supposed to be getting rid of the cancer and still keeping my fertility intact. Unfortunately when the pathology came back after my surgery we learned that the cancer had spread from my cervix into my lymphatic system and it is unknown exactly how much is in the lymph nodes. To prevent my cancer from coming back or spreading I need to have an additional surgery to remove my uterus, as well as radiation treatment and chemotherapy.
Even though they are leaving my ovaries in my body there is a chance that the radiation would completely kill all the eggs left. To hopefully prevent this from ending James and my dreams of having our own children I will be having my eggs retrieved by a fertility specialist and the embryos will be frozen until the time comes when we are able to have a surrogate for our children.
Sadly, most insurance companies (ours included) do not cover any kind of fertility treatments and they're very expensive (especially added to all the bills from my cancer treatments). We are lucky enough to have a fantastic fertility doctor who is giving us a discounted rate because of my cancer but it's still more than we can afford on our own.
As much as the both of us hate to ask for money, we would do anything to able to have children of our own. We ask that you help us out by donating what you can. If each of our friends and family members gave even $10 each, it would make a huge dent in our costs. All donations will go towards my cancer surgery/treatment bills, egg retrieval costs, and surrogacy costs.
Thank you so much for reading all this and for everyones support during these extremely challenging times. We love you all so much
