Chelsea's Road to Recovery

Donation protected

Chelsea is known for having a smile that lights up a room. Sadly, that glowing smile, is now absent.

Her story is a string of unfortunate events, trauma, loss, the battle of severe mental illness, freak accidents (such as the one that happened this week) and just flat out bad luck. Her struggles have humbled her and made her into an amazing person, always sticking up for others and known for going out of her way to help those in need. It's time we all did the same for her. After all, even the strongest people need help sometimes.

This week, a sudden gruesome injury happened while she was at work. Her middle finger, on her dominant hand, was slammed in a heavy industrial steel door, severing the tip completely and crushing her knuckle. Due to the bone rupturing, the entire fingernail bed had to be removed and stitched up. She will never grow a fingernail again and will require physical therapy to get the knuckles working properly. This may or may not be covered by her state insurance. Healing could take several months, leaving her unable to work as it relies heavily on the full mobility and strength of her hands. Meaning, she has zero income to take care of herself for an undetermined amount of time. Unfortunately her job is under the table so TDI or workers comp is not an option.

This huge financial burden is only another layer on top of a bad luck cake. A week prior to this freak accident, she was robbed $400 that was supposed to be for her rent.

Chelsea also struggles with mental illness, severe bi polar depression, crippling anxiety and ptsd from surviving multiple assaults as well as the traumatic death of her fiancé 3 years ago... just to name a few. She has worked hard to overcome this, has sought professional treatment and gone through great lengths to get herself healthy. Life has been difficult after everything she's been through, and it is especially hard to survive in the mean time being in and out of hospitals and having so many doctor appointments. This being a particularly hard time of year due to the anniversary of her fiancé tragically dying in her arms, she has been in a rough place mentally as it is and had made plans to go back to inpatient treatment this week. She is there now and will heartbreakingly be gone through the holidays. It was not an easy decision but necessary for her wellbeing, since this string of unfortunate events have only made her stability deteriorate further

We ask if anyone can help see to it that she is allowed to heal her body and spirit with as little stress as possible, whether it be support in the form financial aid or well wishes, it is deeply appreciated.

Chelsea is expected to be in mental treatment until mid January. The time frame she'll regain the ability to use her hand and work again is still unknown. Donations will go directly to her for medical expenses, rent and bills, life necessities. Every little bit helps. Anything leftover will be donated to charity
