Chelsey & Daves Story

This year marks 20 years that my husband Dave and I have been together. After getting married in 2011 the protection went out the window and being ready to start our family had begun. After quite a few years of never getting pregnant the thoughts started creeping in on why it just had not happened yet.
Starting to pay better attention to ovulation cycles I got pregnant. SO excited after a long wait, we were overjoyed. Starting to get a nursery ready and nothing prepared us for the miscarriage that was upon us.
After 2 more miscarriages in June and September of the same year we were given a blood test giving us the reason why.

BALANCED TRANSLOCATION

What does that mean ? The DNA in my eggs are mixed up. Chromosome 5 and 18 have a portion that are perfectly swapped. This not causing any medical issues with myself yet a large percentage of my eggs are effected with results in increased chance of miscarriage.

After processing this news we started to look into the IVF. Having to go through PGT-SR (genetic testing) with the IVF process. After referring myself to the closest available fertility clinic offering genetic testing 4 hours away. I was put on a wait list for over 2 years and finally got the call that I was excepted. After going through so many tests to complete the IVF checklist I was ready to start.

After starting my first IVF cycle my egg growth for retrieval was not meeting the criteria. It was advised and the decision was made to cancel that cycle and start all over again when we were ready.
Shortly after I started the second cycle and things were looking more positive.
I made it to egg retrieval. 9 retrieved. We were so hopeful. 1 day post retrieval we got a call that there was 5 surviving embryos after fertilization. Still feeling hopeful and waiting the 6 days for growth we ended up receiving the news that we had 2 special eggs to send off to JUNO in New Jersey for genetic testing.
After 4 long weeks of waiting we received the dreaded news that the eggs were not viable :( </3
We are devastated and back to square one, but do not want to give up. Options now are to continue with another round of IVF as before and not knowing the outcome or possibly looking into an egg donor. As everyone know the IVF process is expensive and going the egg donor route cost an estimated $35,000

As a women I always dreamed on carry a baby and experience what so many women had the opportunity to experience , give my husband the ultimate gift and be parents. Our Sweet fur pup Ellie Rose loves kids and is waiting for little sibling all to herself <3
Feeling hopeful and positive for a great future as parents.
