Chen Wei's Family Fundraising

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Wei Chen, a brilliant mind, devoted husband, and loving father. Born in Guangdong, China, in 1968, Wei's life was a testament to intelligence, love, and dedication. He passed away on August 21, 2024, at the age of 56, after a long and brave battle with illness.

Wei was exceptionally gifted from a young age. His academic achievements were remarkable, earning his first Ph.D. from Tsinghua University, followed by a second Ph.D. from Georgia Tech. His pursuit for excellence and innovation was embodied throughout his life. After completing his education, Wei embarked on a remarkable career, beginning at Motorola and later joining Analog Devices, where he served with distinction for 23 years.

At Analog Devices MEMS group, Wei was a crucial member since he joined in 2001. Wei was known for his extremely rich knowledge and experience, and his contributions were foundational to many of ADI MEMS products’ success. Wei loved his work and held his colleagues in high respect, forming lasting mutual support and friendship that extended beyond the workplace. His dedication, mentorship and friendship will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of working with him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Wei was a devoted family man. He was the beloved husband of Wei Fu, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, joy, and shared dreams. Wei was also a proud father to their son Justin Chen, who just graduated high school and is set to begin his college life at UPenn.

Wei was an avid reader, and during his youth he would hide his books all around the house in order to prevent anyone from moving them. He loved to garden, spending hours every weekend pulling out weeds and watering vegetables only he knew the names of. Wei also found joy in traveling and exploring history: he led his family on many trips to see everything the world had to offer. There was no problem he couldn’t solve, and he enjoyed the slow, methodical thinking process behind every solution. Wei always put others before himself, a beloved leader and caring mentor whom everyone looked up to.

Wei’s passing has left his family in deep sorrow and grief. To help them through this extremely difficult time, we are reaching out to you for support to relieve the family’s significant financial burdens, including funeral and memorial expenses. We want to ensure that Wei receives the respectful and heartfelt farewell he deserves, reflecting the love and admiration we all have for him. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated and will go directly towards honoring Wei’s memory.

Wei Chen was a remarkable individual whose impact on his family, friends, and colleagues will be remembered forever. His brilliance, kindness, and dedication touched many lives, and his spirit will continue to live on in the memories we hold dear.
