CHERIE'S LONG JOURNEY TO HEALTH
Donation protected
UPDATE:
Thank you everyone for the generous donations. !!! We have added a new goal. Cherie and Scott's insurance will not cover all of the surgery. They must come up with a huge amount of money before the scheduled surgery (May 25). Cherie desperately needs this heart surgery. She was in the hospital last night violently ill. Please spread the word and help if you can. Prayers are again requested.
------------
Cherie Layton is a very special person. She is a loving 57 year old mother of two sons and a new grandma. She has had two prior heart surgeries, placing a mechanical valve in the heart and then a stroke. Recently her health began to again decline.
It has been decided by the doctors caring for Cherie that she will need another open heart surgery to replace the mechanical valve with another type of valve (yet to be determined), which would allow her to stop taking Coumadin. It is believed that this blood thinner is causing a lot of her health issues and has contributed to her declining health. She has already been to see a heart surgeon at Sutter Health in Sacramento.
As you can imagine, Cherie, her family and friends are very nervous and scared as there are some high risk factors involved this time around, however, this IS the only option at this time. She will require several costly procedures prior to the surgery. Some were already started today.
The prior surgeries put a tremendous financial burden on them, including one surgery at the Mayo Clinic.
Insurance will allow them to have the surgery at Sutter, however the financial burden of non-coveraged bills, housing and loss of work will affect this already financially stressed family. Funds are needed to cover excess medical costs, lost wages, and expenses of day-to-day living.
This will mean so much to Cheri, Scott, Alex, Sam her wonderful family and family of friends who dearly love her. She is an inspiration to all that know her and have the honor of being a friend.
Any amount that can be offered to defer these costs would be greatly appreciated. Prayers and support are greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
