Cherry Creek Vista Community Garden

Donation protected
As we know all too well, COVID-19 has deeply affected many communities including our very own Cherry Creek Vista where I was born and raised. When my school shut down last Spring due to COVID-19 and all sports and activities were canceled, I started taking long walks around the neighborhood with my family. I saw so many “Home of a Hero” yard signs around that made me realize what a great community I live in and made me think about what I can do to help. I wanted to help people in need and also do something to thank the frontline workers risking their own lives to save ours.

I thought of providing food to elderly and immunocompromised neighbors to help them avoid crowded stores, doctors and nurses getting home after a long day at the hospital, and even anyone who might just be hungry for fresh produce and herbs. This is how the idea of a community garden was born. I hope other kids and anyone else who loves gardening or wants to learn will get involved and volunteer their time with this stress-relieving activity that will brighten our community.

I recently gained the courage to present my idea to the Cherry Creek Vista Parks & Recreation District Board, and I am so excited to announce that it was approved! I am finally ready to begin construction and need help with purchasing building materials and tools. Any donation will help me get this project started and have fresh produce for my neighbors next Fall.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support.
