Cherry Cycles On The Move

Donation protected
Cherry Cycles requests  $12,900 to transition to the next phase. Funding will go towards covering the cost to pack, rent trucks, and move.  The funding requested will also cover business planning and development to determine the best way to continue to support diversity in cycling.

Rent in Loring Park near downtown Minneapolis has increased substantially, necessitating that Cherry Cycles move.  Having recently expanded the shop to offer a large variety of bikes, the sheer amount of work in front of Cherry Cycles is daunting.  Renting large trucks will be advantageous to making fewer trips and coordinating movers. Seven shops have closed in the Twin Cities this year citing market and real estate trends affecting their ability to continue serving the public. With your help, this winter can be used to plan how to best continue the mission of equity in cycling into 2020.

Transparency in Regards to Uses for Funding:
Since this period will be one of business clarification and discovery, the use of funding will be determined based on the how research and development progresses.  At present, covering income during this period is critical but also having some funding to develop business skills is also crucial. Listed below are most likely uses for funding.

Estimated Moving Costs Out of and Into a New Space - $3,600:
• $200 truck rental
• $1000 for moving assistance
• $2,400 income during move: organizing move, packing, unpacking, and establishing a new space for bikes, frames, wheels, parts, and accessories equating to four week’s income at $15/hour

Business Planning and Development  - $ 9,300
