Cherry Tooth - A Short Film by SVS

WHAT IS CHERRY TOOTH?
This short film, Cherry Tooth, is a project designed to bring together emerging young artists (filmmakers, actors, and sculptors) in the Michiana area to produce a film that exhibits the practices of these skills. The short will be a period piece set in the early 1900s as a rural town comes to grips with a series of murders from a monster that only attacks under a full moon -- every townsperson is a suspect. Cherry Tooth will feature a practical lycanthrope costume made by one of our crew, and the entire film will be shot on location in South Bend. All crew members are Michiana natives looking to foster an environment to develop these talents; this set will be an opportunity for us to learn and accomplish. Finegan Elliott and Marielle Utayde will portray our two leads:
To make this film possible, we have set a minimum goal budget of $2,000 to pay for:
- Equipment - $1,000
- Food for cast & crew - $200
- Costume & production design - $300
- Location fees (if any)
- Creature creation - $300
- Post-production - $100
- Festival Submission Fees - $100
Of course, this is the minimum goal, so anything extra would make the production value even better and the film that much better. Any amount helps, but if you are willing to pay $50 or more, here's what you will receive:
- $50 - Special thanks in the film with whatever name(s) is commented under your donation.
- $100 or more - Receive an executive producer credit in the film with whatever name(s) is commented under your donation.
- $200 or more - Receive an executive producer credit with whatever name(s) is commented under your donation alongside an exclusive signed poster from the cast and crew.
Again, anything helps, but we want to make this a compelling, thrilling short film made locally in South Bend.
I, Samuel Villagra-Stanton, will be directing the film and providing updates as the funding campaign continues. You can see my latest film, Doodle, an award-winning short made without any budget, below:
UPDATE #1 - PRE-PRODUCTION:
We have officially MET OUR GOAL!!
Thank you so much to each and every one of you who has contributed to making this project happen. With the script written, we are currently knee-deep in the pre-production, so there are more than a few things to share.
First, I'd like to announce the casting of two prominent characters within the short. The characters will be portrayed by Deborah Chudzynski and Amanda Farmer, respectively:
Secondly, our creature designer has shared a work-in-progress sculpt for the lycanthrope that is based on the concept art below:
Lastly, we've been to multiple locations throughout the pre-production process and it looks like we will be able to incorporate some iconic South Bend destinations for our shoot -- but we don't want to spoil it! We've done camera tests, a table read, costume design, storyboards, and we still have so much more to do until we start rolling cameras. Speaking of which, our official shooting dates are August 10th, 11th, & 14th.
UPDATE #2 - PRODUCTION:
Principal photography on Cherry Tooth wrapped on August 14th -- and I could not be more happy with how it went. I wanted to thank the cast and crew for sticking out three long days of shooting. Through steaming heat and a billion bug bites, I feel so lucky to have worked with these talented folks:
Above all, I want to thank everyone who pitched in to help make production possible, whether it be through donating to this campaign, offering your time on set, or donating materials to be used in the production. Because of that, our cast and crew managed to pull through, have fun, and make a movie.
More information regarding the film's release will be released as we get closer to the end of post-production. That's all for this update; stay tuned!
