Cheryl Maki’s Journey Battling Hodgkins Lymphoma

Hello,

My name is Kristy and Cheryl is my good friend and my manager at Atikokan Health and Community Services.

It breaks my heart that Cheryl and her family have received such devastating news in regards to Cheryl’s health.

Cheryl had an Xray done for an unrelated issue and this was the beginning of what is now her biggest fear. On April 30th she received the results of this Xray and she was not at all expecting the news she was about to hear. Her Xray showed a very large mass located in her chest.

After many tests and a biopsy of the mass she received the very heavy news that the mass was Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system). A PET scan revealed that she is considered to be stage 4 and she will require up to 6 months of chemotherapy and potentially radiation afterwards. She will have to go to Thunder Bay every second week for the duration of chemotherapy. If radiation is required, she will then have to stay in Thunder Bay for up to 2 months.

Cheryl is a mother of 3 beautiful children and a wife to her husband Mitch. She wears her heart on her sleeve and I know she would give the shirt off her back for anybody in need. She means the world to a lot of people and is loved beyond measure.

I am starting this GoFundMe in hopes to try and relieve some of the stress and financial burden of several trips to Thunder Bay for medical appointments and to assist in ensuring her family receives everything they need during this trying time.
