Cheyenna Decker: A Shining Light Extinguished Far To Soon
Donation protected
My name is Tony, I am the lucky brother of a bright light of happiness and joy that was extinguished far to soon. My 23 year old beautiful baby sister, Cheyenna Decker, was murdered in cold blood in her apartment in the early hours of Tuesday, January 21st 2025, four days before her 24th birthday. We still do not yet know why but there is nothing a person with such inner beauty could have done to deserve such a tragic and unjustified fate. She never got a chance to do the things alot of us take for granted, get married, raise a child, own a home or go on a vacation. She didn't get to experience the best parts of life because someone decided their reasoning was enough to rob her of those things; rob us from getting to experience them with her.
Perhaps some will think I am biased or that it's cliche, but I have truly never met someone like her, someone who could face a world filled with darkness and dispair head-on as a shining beacon of light and make everyone's day just a little bit brighter...burdens seem a little less heavy....with nothing more than a smile and a few simple words.
There aren't words to describe the empty crater left in my heart and the hearts of everyone who loved her. What I can say is that it wasn't just my family who lost someone, every person who came in contact with her and humanity as a whole lost someone that it desperately needed. She would help anyone that would ask, those that didn't ask and even those who didn't deserve it. I can only speak for myself, but she was better than I could ever dream to be and I vow to never stop striving to be a better human in honor of her memory, a memory that I refuse to ever let fade.
I was reluctant to consider the idea of creating this and allowing others to help because of pride and wanting to be strong for the people I love, but someone helped me recognize that allowing others to do so doesn't only help ease our strain but also let's others feel and know they are doing something, contributing in some way. I can't begin to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support that my family and loved ones have received in this horrible nightmare we can't wake from.
If we are blessed enough to receive more than what we need to cover costs, anything in excess will be donated to the church helping with the vigil/services in her honor and/or a charity dear to her heart. She had a very close relationship with God and I believe that is what she would want.
I am posting this not only to give people whos lives she touched a way to help carry the weight, but also for awareness to find and catch the monster who took her from us, so that we can all begin the lifelong process of trying to heal. If you cannot donate financially, please donate your kind words, your love, compassion and prayers. If you seen something, heard something, felt something...donate your time and information to help the ground stop shaking under the feet of our family and our community.
We will be holding a candle light vigil and balloon release on Monday Jan 27th @ 5:30 PM at 850 W McDonough St, Macomb IL
If you can, I ask for you to share this with your friends and loved ones, to please let Cheyenna's story be heard. If you have any information regarding what happened to my sister in any way, please contact McDonough County Sheriffs Office or the CrimeStoppers hotline in Macomb, IL. Aswell, I am offering a 1000$ reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who murdered my baby sister.
