Chi Omega Limelight- Benefitting Make-A-Wish Mississippi

Every year, hundreds of kids in Mississippi are diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses such as leukemia, brain tumors, sickle cell, cystic fibrosis, and others. The illnesses cause months and months of doctor visits and harsh chemotherapy or radiation treatments. Due to the advances in medicine, many kids recover from their illnesses but they take a huge toll on their bodies.

Make-A-Wish Mississippi comes alongside the kids, their parents, and their doctors as they fight their illness by granting them a wish. Multiple studies have shown that a wish improves a kid’s chances of survival by giving them something to look forward to and work towards. A wish makes a kid healthier.

The Phi Delta chapter of Chi Omega began fundraising for Make-A-Wish Mississippi over twenty years ago. Phi Delta has raised over half a million dollars and we strive to increase our fundraising each year so we can help more kids. Our largest event is Limelight, which is also the largest sorority philanthropy event on the campus of Mississippi State University. This event draws a crowd of over 4,000 people consisting of MSU students and supporters nationwide.

This year, we would like to expand our event so we can grant more wishes than ever before. With an average cost of a wish amounting to $6,500, our goal this year is to raise $65,000 or 10 wishes. By donating, you have the opportunity to directly impact the lives of local Mississippi children facing critical illnesses. Your generous donation helps a child get better and enables us to partner with Make-A-Wish Mississippi to impact more lives. Together, we can bring hope, joy, and transformative experiences to those who need it most.

At this year’s Limelight event, we get to introduce wish kid Lee Thorne. Lee is 3 years old, and his one true wish is to go to Disney World! We hope to grant his wish along with many others with your donations!
