Chicago Artist: Building a Home Pottery Studio!

Today I want to share how I want to pursue my messy dreams in such an unconventional place. Within a 3rd floor apartment in Chicago, I plan to build a pottery space that will allow me to achieve my dream comfortably in a place I call home. I have a background working/teaching in my college campus’s pottery studio for 3 years, which brings me the confidence to know what I need, and that I will succeed given the help and opportunity to obtain the materials. My specialty lies in creating sculptural decor and sculptural functional objects that blend artistry with functionality. With your generous support, I hope to turn my passion for clay into a sustainable business that enriches homes with unique and handmade pieces.

It’s not every day that I find other potters, sculptures, or ceramicists in my neighborhood, so it’s not very easy for me to conveniently pursue my talents. Most people who work in my field don’t look like me, don’t live around me, and tend to have all the financial resources needed at the start of their journey. I am coming from nothing and want to build something. Something that will hopefully seep and grow into my community, creating a more artistic and dream-chasing neighborhood one step at a time.
