Chicáno Nuevo into the FUTURE
Donation protected
This past October 30th was our 5 yr anniversary in business. A few dormant months here and there, yes, but overall we've been hustling our food in Bernal/Mission/Excelsior SF, since 2015. We had a big party planned with a national Latinx recording artist in the works but, alas, it felt tone deaf to invite you all to gather as the dangerous winter that is upon us, approached.
From pop-up to brick and mortar, closed down due to building selling(it still sits empty on Virginia St), back to pop-up for 3 yrs at El Rio, Old Devil Moon, Casements, and this horrible past year as a permanent pop-up at The Broken Record in the beautiful Excelsior district.
We are determined. We survive.
In March we didn't ask for money as thousands did because we had savings and because we were prideful.
That was a mistake. I didn't take into consideration those who help me and depend on the business for wherewithal.
Still, it is not easy.
What we are asking for now is to help our small staff with lost wages through Christmas and help us to get into good position next year i.e. equipment exchanges to more energy efficient models that cut PG&E bill into fractions, needed signage upgrades, plumbing and a full restock for reopening.
We are a small, nimble operation.
Your support through this means EVERYTHING...
WHY Chicáno Nuevo needs to survive in San Francisco into the future?
Our story. We are unique. If you've had our food, this is redundant and we're preaching to the choir. If you have not:
We are telling a TRUE story of struggle from Tijuana Mexico/USA Bordertown living and eating. Seafood-forward with Bay Area haute-cuisine technique. Representing the dishes that were important to my family and impactful in my life from TJ alley taco stands to SD taco shops.
Thank you for reading and for your help. See in the next year FOR SURE!!! XOXOX
