Chico's Natural Pet Market Adoption Center Fund

Chico's Adoption Center needs your help. Our retail store Chico's Natural Pet Market, which was created to support the adoption center and its work, was forced by our landlord to relocate. The promise made to us was that we would move from our original location into the new one with minimal downtime. We expected, and planned for, being shut down about a month or so. Due to construction delays and mistakes by the landlord a year has gone by. We were supposed to be open by the end of October 2022. The new location was finally turned over to us only recently. Construction, however, was never completed. We now have to finish it ourselves in order to open.

To be able to open immediately we will complete only the most critical work now. The most important being that the ceiling at the front half of the store needs to be painted before anything else can be done. Next would be hiring an electrician to finish installing lighting not completed by the landlord. We also need to paint the grooming area and bathrooms. Later we can address the other finishing touches needed to make Chico's what it used to be. These would include, among other things, building our new Wellness Center , and most important to our reason for existence building our Adoption Center.

The long delay in receiving the new space has caused a near total depletion of our resources. We need your help to be able to complete construction, purchase inventory for the retail store, and cover the many other expenses other expenses involved. It is our hope that we can quickly reopen and get back to our mission of helping our local community.

For those of you not familiar with Chico's Adoption Center, we were created to fill a gap that we saw in the current adoption system. The local animal shelters are set up to accept animals surrendered by their owner. The existing adoption groups were set up to obtain animals from the shelters before they were euthanized. The groups also obtain animals from other states and even other countries. While these are certainly worthy and necessary there are some situations that neither can help with. A common example we have seen would be if you found a cat abandoned by a neighbor that moved. The animal shelter will not accept the cat from you since you are not the owner and rescue groups very rarely accept animals from individuals. This is the type of situation where we step in. We will take the necessary steps towards the physical and emotional rehabilitation of the animal so it can eventually find a forever home. The amount of time this takes varies greatly from case to case. We never rush an animal into a situation it is not ready for. We also put a great deal of effort into education to help keep animals from being abandoned in the first place. Very often people just need help and guidance to overcome what seemed like an impossible situation.

We won't lie or pretend that we will be able to accomplish this without your help. We will need to pay rent even before we are ready to open. We will also have to pay for salaries, utilities, and other expenses. But we believe, as always, that with hard work we will be able to make it one more time. We have never given up, so please donate now. Our goal is to open by mid November.

Thank You
Danielle and John
