Chief John Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Born John Wesner from Shelbyville Indiana. John is a Reverend and Traditional Sundance Chief and Medicine man having been taught and made Chief by Leonard Crow Dog in Rosebud South Dakota at Crow Dogs paradise where John danced and prayed for over 30 years. He has been involved in Native American ceremony since he was 16 years old and has continued this work to this day. John is a father to 9 children and has many Grandchildren who love him dearly and over the decades John has worked diligently for Native American people here in the state of Indiana, fighting for Native customs and ceremonies and gaining protection for these, something he is very proud of. Currently his residence is listed as the official Native American Church of Indiana. He is a master Carpenter and has worked for the city of Indianapolis as a rehab specialist retiring after decades of work fixing up houses in the city. Through all his work John has touched countless lives. He has helped people from all over the country turn their lives around and better themselves. From addiction problems, mental issues, to people simply trying to find their Native American roots John believes that all people have a place in traditional Native practices and can benefit from them. He has welcomed everyone who ever showed up at his door step and many were and still are success stories filled with the teachings of Chief John.
After 77 years of a very colorful and beautiful life John has recently been diagnosed with a terminal illness which has given him very little time left on this earth. John has gone to a great extent to make sure when the time came for him to cross over that all arrangements for his burial were covered. However, there are just a few things John has wished for in his passing that have yet to be financially covered. He has expressed that his last wish was to see his brother 1 more time, Chief Leonard Crow Dog.. and that he wanted his body to go to South Dakota where his spiritual home is. This all requires travel money, plane tickets, permits, body transportation fees, food, hotel stays etc. for the family. We are humbly asking for any donations to help us with making sure his wishes are honored and respected and that he gains closure knowing his burial won't put any unnecessary stress on his family. Most of his family have made trips from their residences to come see him in his final days many taking a lot of time off of work and most traveling across state lines to see him. He is in hospice care at home and we are taking time off of work and taking leave to watch over him as he requires 24 hour care. Financially any help is needed.
Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support. The amount of people who have reached out and visited has really meant a lot to John and the family. It has made this whole process a lot easier. Thank you all again! If you wish to donate in other ways please feel free to reach out via Facebook message or phone call! Thank you again!
