CHILD PROSTITUITION: FREE YOUNG GIRLS FROM BROTHELS AND FUND EDUCATION
FUNDRAISER:
Jumaira Uddin is organising this fundraiser.
Sold by traffickers, trapped for years and raped many times a day … these are the lives of tens of thousands of underage girls in Bangladesh. Marginalised, innocent young girls at the ages 9-18 are being groomed to sell sex in licensed brothels as they unable to afford basic necessities and lack access to education.
According to Foreign Policy Data: Bangladesh has twenty of the biggest brothels in the world with 150,000 to 200,000 children and young women have been trafficked into prostitution. While prostitution is legal, trafficking and forced labour are not. But poor enforcement of legislation in a country where women are easy prey means traffickers act with impunity.
A prime location is Daulatdia is the name of a village in Rajbari District, Bangladesh, is considered as one the largest brothel in the world. I, myself have visited Daulatdia and was shocked by the news of children sex trafficking, unwanted pregnancies and dangerous drugs used for illicit activities. Being one of the twenty officially sanctioned brothels in the country, there has been many news reports about this, however the government do not give much attention to this crisis. Significantly, this is getting worse for girls and women, as they become impregnated and some even resort to suicide. Ultimately, this can be prevented if funds were to be donated to education, psychological treatment and building a workforce to divert away from prostitution.
It is widely recognized that with funds, urgent action to prevent sex trafficking and access to education can solve current problems.
Hope International World Charity is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to help third world countries with issues such as access to food and education. The team has come together with the sole purpose eradicating child prostitution and human trafficking by using the funds to shut down brothels.
Our mission is to provide young girls and women:
- Provide a facility for children and young women away from the brothels, so they are protected from any danger, risk or injury.
- Provide young children education, a basic right which they are entitled to. Education is important for children because they are the future of the world and a significant investment in a child’s life. They are able to build the nation with all their knowledge and education.
- Psychological treatment to improve the girls and women coping skills and treat ranges of health conditions from depression, anxiety and bipolar. Majority of sex traffickers committed suicide and had miscarriages from being sex trafficked.
- To provide medical examination to treat sexually transmitted diseases consisting of (chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis).
We believe that no human should experience the trauma of selling themselves just to put food on the table. Our focus is on creating a brighter future for the children and women of Bangladesh who will also become the future leaders in the world. We hope one day we can close every existing legal brothels and use law & funds to make this possible.
With your support, we can save the lives that otherwise would be lost due to STI, impregnation and suicide. Our team are working around the clock to deliver but we do need your support.
STATISTICS:
• Ten minutes of sex will cost young girls and women TK400 (about £3.66)
• In an investigation, more than 20 underage girls in four of the brothels showed notarised certificates stating they were over 18. One girl admitted she was still the age of thirteen.
• A recent survey of 375 sex workers, conducted by the Girls Not Brides charity, found almost half (47 per cent) were former child brides forced into prostitution.
• There are currently 150,000 to 200,000 children and young women have been trafficked into prostitution in Bangladesh.

How am I related to the funds? This is my own independent project to help young girls and women in Bangladesh to receive the education, treatment and help them to get out the brothels. Therefore, I will be in charge of the funds and use HOPE CHARITY as my ngo when I go and deliver the money in Bangladesh by paying for necessary facilities as listed above.
