Child Protection in Ministry
Tax deductible
Who We Are:
The Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention was created in 2019 to help leaders protect the vulnerable in ministry through awareness, accreditation, and resources. We believe that every person is created in the image of God for the purpose of worship. The people in our care must be protected from abuse so that they can hear the gospel and grow in discipleship for the purpose of the Great Commission.
What We Do:
Our mission is to support Christian ministries in Child Protection and Abuse Prevention through awareness, accreditation, and resources. ECAP seeks to help leaders know what should be done to protect vulnerable people and how to respond when an allegation of abuse is reported. Our accreditation program will assist in demonstrating compliance to Standards, resulting in peace of mind for leaders and parents and sustainability to ensure that safety programs continue as designed.
Project Details:
Partner with us to raise $45,000 in order to complete program trials and launch the accreditation program, which is planned for early 2023. Through this program, we will be able to accredit US organizations that are compliant with our Standards. Currently, we are working with 15+ various ministry types as charter member candidates. These organizations are working with us to fine-tune the compliancy process. Technology and resources are vital in communicating with organizations on how to implement child safety standards and to set up solutions to scale up and promote the program. Our funding needs include:
- Program staffing
- Technology
- Communications
- Marketing
- Resource development
- Auditing and compliance development
- Validation team visit labor
- Validation team travel

In order to launch, the accreditation program will need to fund a team of people to help organizations through the accreditation process, including some travel expenses. We anticipate that the program will become self-sustaining after the initial launch in January as more organizations seek accreditation and join our membership network.
