Childcare in Ghana, Africa
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Taelyr, and I am a college student living in Sonoma County, California. I have always loved adventures and had previously been on the pediatric nursing path until I recently switched to a psychology major - all in the hopes of finding a job that allows me to make meaningful connections and help communities as best I can.
I found the IVHQ (International Volunteer HQ) program that would help make my goal of traveling to Ghana in West Africa and providing childcare for families who need some extra support possible. I have already secured my place as a volunteer for a trip leaving in July 2022. I would land in Accra, Ghana and after a roughly 20-hour flight, I would then travel to a rural town where I would live for the next two weeks.
While there, I, along with the other volunteers, would provide care and support to children, assist with their homework, and help with food preparation and meal distribution. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be fully immersed in another culture and have the chance to experience the beauty that I would otherwise not get to see.
Between getting a new passport, a Ghanaian visa, flights, program fees, COVID testing, and any other costs, this trip is a challenging but meaningful experience to achieve. I would be so grateful for any assistance I receive in helping to pay for this journey.
