KAI’s 5th bday wish for kids with Down syndrome

Hi everyone and hurray! it’s Kai’s 5th birthday!!

Kai and parents are asking for friends and family to donate funds to enable him reach out to his friends with Down syndrome in Nigeria.

Kai’s parents have been supporting the students of Morainbow Down syndrome learning center in Nigeria and they have authorised this gofundme for their son.

Morainbow is a not for profit, non governmental organization that was started by a mom who wanted to help babies with Down syndrome with early intervention.

Inspired by her daughter's diagnosis, she was led to pioneer Nigeria's first Early Intervention Center and initiate impactful community projects while creating an enabling environment for affected children. There is literally no help for children with Down syndrome in government hospitals and children from low income, underserved families are doing poorly. Morainbow has helped to create awareness, reduce inequalities, abuse and mortality rate of children with Down syndrome in Nigeria with funds donated by well meaning individuals over the past 9 years.

They are on a rescue mission to change the face of Down syndrome and support those that lack funds to access treatment, carry out periodic health checks which can improve their lives .

Morainbow has since 2014 began community awareness projects to enlighten the public and again in 2015, set up a learning centre for children and young adults who are out of school due to stigma, ill health and mistreatment to provide them with informal and formal education, therapeutic services like speech, physical and occupational therapies, raise funds for heart surgery and other surgeries to prevent needless deaths. They also have to depend on well meaning individuals and some parents to ask for funds for these programs and projects to keep the children in school, help them acquire skills, learn to walk, be happy, live and love their lives. There is still a huge gap to be closed and we are grateful the global Down syndrome community appreciate the work we do in Nigeria.
