Children in Direct Provision Centres Cork
Donation protected
Every year, we organise Christmas parties for direct provision centres in Cork (currently 11 centres) for the children in these centres. We do this so these children can have Christmas presents every year.
Failte Refugees Society at University College Cork (UCC), UCC lecturers, students, Cork Migrant Centre, Saoirse EHD and friends have been organising these charity events every year since direct provision centres existed.
If you donate to this cause, we intend to ensure that a little seasonal light and warmth is brought to these families, through providing each child with an appropriate present and each family with festive fare through these parties.
As many people know, most parents and guardians living in direct provision have next-to-no resources. The centres where they live are isolated from local communities, making it difficult for the residents to integrate with the surrounding community.
With the money that is raised, each of the 400+ children in centres in Cork City and County will have the opportunity to choose a present of their choice.
If you are able to, please donate what you can to our cause. If you can't donate, please share on social media.
