Children in Philippines
Donation protected
Hi my name is Kara O’Connell and one year ago when we were visiting Batac Illocos Norte Philippines we noticed the love of basketball the children have there. We wanted to find a way to support their love for basketball and to make a difference in their lives too.
We began to gather the children with the proposal of starting a local basketball team in Acosta. This brought so much joy to the children and the original team name was ‘Abagatan Warriors’
These children are less fortunate and are not given the best opportunities as young people growing up. As a family we wanted to set up a fund to support the children in their basketball and their lives.
We provide them with things they wish for such as new shoes. With your help of your generous donations, we can ensure that your money is supporting a great cause and always will be used to support the children only.
With the help of our previous donations, we have been able to supply the children with sets of jerseys, shorts, new shoes and food for after the matches. We also been able to fund parties for them where we play games. School supplies and clothes for school have also been bought.
We are so thankful for these donations as we feel these children deserve an equal chance as any other child would get.
Now our team is called ‘Irish Warriors’ in honour of us being from Ireland. We now have 2 age groups competing in local tournaments. These age groups are 8-13 and 14-16. With all the help of all the donations we have been given already, this has been able to happen.
We welcome any donations and we will continue to support the children within basketball and their personal lives.
