Help get two children to school.

Two children from an orphanage in the slums of Bangkok, Thailand have been given the opportunity to attend an international school here and need money to pay for the school bus.
Both children, independently, were orphaned when their parents died as a consequence of the lifestyle typical in such deprived circumstances. Both children were very lucky to be given a home with a well established and caring organisation in the heart of the slums. They have food, shelter, education and love provided by the kind members of the community and donations from benefactors. They were educated in the local, donation funded, kindergarten schools and received a basic English language education through a program I organised. These two children excelled in their studies and have shown grit and determination enough to propel themselves out of the slums and towards becoming productive and caring citizens of a much wider community.
I approached an international school here in Bangkok about the possibility of scholarships for these two children and after hearing their stories and seeing their potential agreed. This is an opportunity to attend a high quality school with many great educational resources, smaller class sizes, well trained and committed teachers, and lessons delivered in English; as well as lessons to develop and support their Thai language and heritage.
This is an amazing opportunity for these children and you have the opportunity to help them take advantage of this offer. While the children are having their tuition paid there are other costs. I will be sponsoring the children and pay for all of their additional costs. This includes uniforms, books, school trips, special events, etc. The biggest cost, however, is transportation to and from school. The school is around 25km from where the children live. School can provide a bus, with a member of staff on board in addition to the driver, that will pick them up from home to school and back again at the end of the day. It’s not cheap though. The cost is 25,000 baht per term, per child. That works out to 150,000 baht per year in transportation costs. That’s just over £2,840 or $4,466 on today’s exchange rates (xe.com).
Without transportation to and from the school the children will simply not be able to attend. If you feel that you are able to, and would like to help, please make a donation. I will add updates on the children’s progress to this site as often as I can.
