Children's Peaceful Garden: Hope for the future

The Children’s Peaceful Garden at Kitchawan Farm needs YOU!
First created in 2000 by visionary Barbara Sarbin of Something Good in the World in collaboration with an international team of gardeners and landscape artists, the Children’s Peaceful Garden is a sanctuary dedicated to peaceful and imaginative play as well as environmental education. It brings adults and children of all ages and backgrounds together to learn how to plant, landscape, and design in harmony with the environment.
Chosen by The Jane Goodall Institute to represent their Roots & Shoots program at the United Nations International Day of Peace in 2016, The Children’s Peaceful Garden project has become a template for creating peaceful and sustainable, outdoor spaces that nurture creative, arts-integrated, and imaginative play and mindful activities. The Whole Kids Foundation also recently featured SGITW’s Children’s Peaceful Garden as a model that can be replicated to promote sustainability and peaceful play nationwide.
Something Good in the World works with local shelters for youth-at-risk, as well as local public schools, and even with distant educators in Hawaii to create gardens dedicated to peace, well-being, and living in harmony with the environment.
Under Barbara’s direction the Children’s Peaceful Garden at Kitchawan Farm has served as a therapeutic tool for refugee children from our southern border, children living in shelters, local public school children as well as area homeschool children. She has written movingly about these experiences on her blog.
Donate today and help us reach our goal of $15,000 to allow the Children’s Peaceful Garden to remain in it’s current location at Kitchawan Farm in Ossining, NY.
Your donation also supports Something Good in the World in expanding the Children’s Peaceful Garden project and sharing it’s message of peace and sustainability, as well as continuing all programs that live in the Children’s Peaceful Garden.
Health, nutrition, sustainability, organic agriculture, alternative energy systems, creative and imaginative play – it all becomes possible in the Children’s Peaceful Garden with your support!
