Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
Chimney Rock Gem Mine has been a cherished Jewelry Store and Gemstone Mining Attraction for the past 21 years, offering families and visitors a unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of Chimney Rock. It has been the passion of our founders, Matt and Michelle Banz, who have poured their hearts into creating lasting memories for families, couples, and friends as they found beautiful specimens from the earth, and mined for gems together. We've always felt fortunate to help so many find their treasures during their visit to Chimney Rock, and we’ve loved seeing photos of guests enjoying their time with us—though right now, those photos are bittersweet to look at.
Hurricane Helene brought devastation we never thought possible, with the Rocky Broad River rising to unimaginable levels. The damage to Chimney Rock Gem Mine has been catastrophic. While the outer walls of the building remain, the floor has completely collapsed into the gemstone mining area. In addition, our office and warehouse in Hendersonville, which supplies all our merchandise, has been entirely flooded. The scale of repairs needed is overwhelming, and we are now facing a restoration challenge we never could have imagined.
We need your help to bring Chimney Rock Gem Mine back to life. Every dollar raised will go directly toward the extensive restoration and repairs required, as well as to support our Rockhound family. With your generosity, we can restore this special place and eventually get back to serving the community we love. Every contribution brings us one step closer to recovery. Thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
With Love & Gratitude,
The Banz Family
