Chip Judd's Health Journey

Hello, friends, family, and supporters of our awesome dad, Chip Judd. As you may have heard, Dad was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis ("IPF"), a lung disease of unknown origin, about eight years ago. During many years of progression (slow, thanks in large part to our mom, Coleen, in keeping him active!), Dad has been able to maintain a relatively normal work and travel schedule, so much so that many people had no idea of his diagnosis. In recent months, however, the disease has advanced significantly, and you may have seen him with his new oxygen accessories, which make it a bit trickier to conceal the challenges he's facing. While this diagnosis and the progression of IPF have been the most challenging thing he and our family have faced, he continues to lead with faith and confidence in all that God has promised. As he and our mom have been prayerfully fighting this, they believe God has promised them many more years to continue their ministry and fulfill His assignment on their lives. We are all trusting God for a healing miracle and a successful lung transplant surgery, which he is currently in the process of pursuing.
If you have arrived at this page, you probably appreciate that to know our dad, Chip, is to have been greatly impacted by his mission and ministry, and to be drawn to his wisdom, humor, laidback nature, and occasional friendly debate. As Dad has recently shared his diagnosis and more details of his condition and treatment plan, people have asked how they can help during this period.
With the impact this has had on his schedule and capacity for speaking and counseling engagements, and the thought of impending medical and recovery costs, there will be a financial impact that we want to minimize. If you would like to help offset these costs, your gift would be greatly appreciated.
Dad recorded a personal update episode of his podcast in which he talks more about the diagnosis, which you can find here and you can follow along in his treatment journey at his Caring Bridge site.
And, last but definitely not least, we want to express our gratitude and sympathy to organ donors and their families. While we are beyond grateful that a transplant could add years of time with our Dad, grandad (Chi-Chi), husband, pastor, counselor and friend, we are painfully aware that this comes at the cost of tremendous loss and grief for another family. That reality is something we do not take lightly, and our prayers will continually be with the family of the eventual donor that makes Dad's recovery possible.
