Help support Chislehurst Farmers Market by offering a donation towards the legal charges recently requested by Bromley Council for drawing up a contract to enable the Farmers Market to remain in its existing location at Hornbrook House Car Park, High Street, Chislehurst BR7 5AB
Chislehurst Farmers Market was started in June 2011 at the request of the Chislehurst Town Centre Management Group. Chislehurst Farmers Market moved to its current location of Hornbrook House Car Park, High Street, Chislehurst BR7 5AB just opposite Chislehurst Common in October 2012. The move to its new location in October 2012 provided more space and a contract to use the car park was agreed.
The farmers market has continued to take place on the 3rd Sunday of the month in Hornbrook House Car Park since then on a monthly basis between 10am and 2pm. During the pandemic the stallholders provided a delivery service of their products to their customers.
The Farmers Market runs to National Accreditation Standards and has been recognised as a Real Farmers market. The Farmers Market offers the opportunity to speak directly with the person involved in growing or producing the item with products including fresh fish, artisan breads, game, cheeses, hand linked sausages, honey and more available.
In November 2024 Bromley Council Committees approved the introduction of Sunday charges in all of the Council run car parks which includes Hornbrook House Car Park.
Since then discussions have been taking place and in early March 2025 Bromley Council informed Chislehurst Farmers Market of charges to use the car park and also legal and surveyors charges for new contracts to be drawn up. The Contracts will have to be renewed regularly with fees due each time.
We have spoken with so many of our loyal and regular customers at Chislehurst Farmers Market and they would like to see the farmers market continue in Chislehurst in its current location however, the legal fees we are being requested by the Council to pay are high . Having spoken with customers yesterday at the March Chislehurst Farmers Market many suggested setting up a Crowd Funding page so that they can help support the farmers market in continuing.
We have to advise Bromley Council of our intention to continue the Farmers Market in its current location by no later than 31 March 2025 for the market to be able to take place on its next date of Sunday 20th April.
Your help would be greatly appreciated in any way either by sharing this Go Fund Me page or by making a small donation towards keeping the farmers market open to the public.
Thank you for your support. Many other farmers markets in the UK are being hit by similar problems.
