The unexpected death of a child is unfathomable. A piece of you taken out of this world too soon. No mother should have to go through that. But unfortunately my stepdaughter Josie is going through just that.

Her daughter, Chloe Lorraine was diagnosed with a terrible, rare disorder at birth called Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH). NKH causes elevated glycine levels in the body with the inability to break down this enzyme. Because of this, Chloe suffered from terrible effects such as developmental delays, seizures, muscle spasms, feeding challenges (she was feed through a G-Tube), a weak immune system, inability to move much, lack of head and body control, inability to crawl, sit or stand independently, and the list goes on. Josie was told Chloe would not survive her first year, but by the miracle of God, she fought and became an inspiration and light to so many people over her 3 years of life.

Children affected with NKH are unfortunately given a very short time to live as the disease progresses and there is no cure as of now. Josie is a single mom and dedicated her entire life to doing everything she possibly could do to care for Chloe. Thankfully she has a good support system of family and friends. Still Chloe gaining her wings just 2 days before Christmas was completely unexpected.

Josie found out her insurance doesn't help cover funeral costs. So we ask for your help to give this sweet angel the funeral she deserves. If you feel lead to donate we appreciate so much! Anything, even a dollar would help.

And if you can't give right now, that's ok. Prayers would also be appreciated. Prayers for Josie and the family as we go through this difficult time. And prayers for all the families raising children with this rare, incurable disease.

If we raise more money than the cost of the funeral then everything else will be donated for NKH research to finding a cure in memory of Chloe so hopefully one day no other child or family ever has to go through this.
