Support for IWF Youth World Championship (Albania)

Hi, My name is Chloe Saliba. I am a 16-year-old girl from the Sunshine Coast (Kawana) and am passionate and dedicated to the sport of Olympic Weightlifting and CrossFit.

I have been selected to represent Australia in Olympic Weightlifting at the 2023 IWF Youth World Championships in Durres, Albania, in March and am hoping to receive some financial support to assist me. To qualify, I needed to obtain a combined total weight of 149kg (Snatch and Clean & Jerk).

A little about me:

I started CrossFit at a young age alongside my parents (who own a local CrossFit affiliate). I started competing competitively at CrossFit at age 14 and was recognized as an upcoming Olympic lifter in 2021. Both sports are complementary, and I am pursuing both to the best of my ability.

I am currently ranked number 1 in Oceania for CrossFit 14-15 year division, and number 1 in Australia for Olympic Weightlifting in my age and weight division.

This year I have moved into a new age category 16-17 years and am aiming to hold the Oceania title and qualify for the CrossFit Games (Teen division) later in the year.

I work with my Olympic lifting Coach - Barry Harden from Sunshine Coast Weightlifting Club, and train under my parents for CrossFit.

I am dedicated to both sports and am following my dream to qualify for the Olympics and to win the CrossFit Games. This pursuit requires me to be in the gym for multiple hours a day. I mostly train by myself - before school and after school each day. I am focused on nutrition, sleep and every aspect that will provide any advantage to my performance and sport.

Your support will allow me to continue to pursue the competitive side of my sport and allow me to attend international competitions. I have prequalified for multiple international Olympic weightlifting competitions this year. Only partial funding is available for some competitions and the additional cost add up.

I am extremely grateful for the support of my family and community in encouraging me to follow my dreams and am working towards representing Australia and becoming the best athlete I can be.
