Chloe’s Big Heart

Today, your average 11 year old child should be enjoying sports after school, dancing around to their favourite singer, or catching up with their friends on the weekend to create memories for the year ahead.

But for Chloe, her current reality has her spending more time within hospital walls, than school halls.

Due to the effects of mitochondrial disease, Chloe now has hypertrophic dilated cardiomyopathy, Chloe now requires a heart transplant. During her last surgery, the cardiologist said he has never seen pressure in anyone’s heart as bad as it is for her in his whole working career. So time is of the essence. This surgery can only be done in Melbourne as this is the only place in Australia that does paediatric heart surgery.

Right now Chloe requires a wheelchair for any activity that requires physical exertion, and she is tube fed as her weight has dropped to 25 kg.

With a heart transplant being required comes a daunting array of medical expenses, financial burdens and emotional hardship for Chloe and her parents.

In the face of such adversity, we’re reaching out to our community for support. The family are in urgent need of assistance to cover the exorbitant costs associated with Chloe's medical care, including but not limited to hospital bills, surgeries, medications, and post-transplant rehabilitation. We also want to ensure they can have experiences and create memories with Chloe without her mum and dad having to worry about heading off to work during this time.
