Chloe's Medical Expenses and Funeral Cost

Donation protected

Chloe, our blind yellow lab, has always been a happy dog. She was born in 2009 in our home in Manila. As a puppy, she was always the one who would get all the milk. She loved to eat and very playful. Even when she lost her sight 6 years go, her active personality didn't change. She moves and runs fast especially if she hears food. She always bark everytime her nanny prepares her food because she was always excited to eat.

About 4 months ago, her older sister and bestfriend, Chumchum, passed away. This made Chloe very sad because she was left alone. Chumchum and Chloe were the only two doggies at home in Manila. As a precaution, special care was given to Chloe. She was provided an executive health check-up and at that time, her health was very good except for obesity. Vet said that she just needed to lose weight.

A couple of months passed and Chloe was able to achieve her ideal weight, but she was not the same. Her activity level dropped and she was not very excited to eat now. She just liked to be beside mommy all the time. She developed dementia and sometimes she shivers when it rains outside. We brought her back to the vet and was given medication. He condition improved initially until she developed cough. There was blood in her cough. Her front and hind legs were swollen too and were bleeding.

The vet saw her again and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle that usually starts in your heart's main pumping chamber. This chamber stretches and thins (dilates) and can't pump blood as well as a healthy heart can. This was the main reason for Chloe's pain. It was the same disease that her mom Lala had. Medications were given to help Chloe.

Yesterday, Chloe did her afternoon routine. After coming back inside the house, she laid down. Nanny started preparing her food. Her mommy noticed that Chloe was not responding anymore. She was barely breathing and had blood coming out of her nose. She still had a heartbeat so she was rushed to the hospital. They tried to revive Chloe and she could not take it anymore. In my mind, I told Chloe that it's time to rest. I feel her pain and suffering and it's time to end this now. Her mom Lala, brother Curry, and sister Chumchum will be waiting for her at the rainbow bridge.

Chloe may be gone, but will forever be in our hearts. The frequent vet visit (6x just this month of August) had caused some financial problems for us (There is no pet insurance in the Philippines).

We would truly be grateful for every donation we get to cover Chloe's medical bills and funeral cost.

With love,
