Rebuild Chocolate Nirvana Bakery

For the past 20 years, Chocolate Nirvana has helped Midlands residents celebrate life’s important events with our delicious and unique desserts. We are proud to be members of the Midlands business community; we feel so fortunate to bring people joy in our own store and through our relationships with other local businesses like Miyo’s and DiPrato’s. Last September, we relocated to Fort Jackson Boulevard and opened a restaurant that combined our three businesses: Chocolate Nirvana Bakery, the Box Lunch Company, and the Happy Cookers. Unfortunately, our new location was on the banks of Gills Creek, placing us at the center of the flooding. Just days after our one-year anniversary in our new location, floodwaters rose to over three feet inside our building, destroying our inventory and damaging much of our equipment.
We have been so moved by the generosity of our employees, customers, and total strangers in the wake of the flooding. Dozens of people showed up to help us with the initial cleanup in the restaurant, and offers to help with many other aspects of the recovery poured in. When you asked how you could help after the flood, we told you we weren’t sure yet what we needed. The process of rebuilding has been more complicated than we expected, but after a month of work and meetings and research, we have a clearer picture of what lies ahead. We plan to reopen, and we need your help! We need to replace a lot of our equipment and purchase new inventory. While we’re rebuilding, we are also renting space in a commercial kitchen so we can continue to supply restaurants and fill other orders as much as possible. Like many of the families and businesses in the area, the most helpful contributions to our recovery would be financial donations. Your donations would go a long way toward helping us repair our building, replace our equipment and inventory, support our employees and their families, and support other local businesses. Please donate and spread the word to support this special local business! Thank you for all your help!
