St. Thomas's Choir Wells Residency
Donation protected
The Choir of St. Thomas’s Episcopal Church, New Haven will be traveling to Wells Cathedral in the UK as choir-in-residence in the summer of 2018. We will be singing daily choral services at the beautiful medieval cathedral, built between 1175 and 1490. Wells was famously described by historian Alec Clifton-Taylor as "the most poetic" of English cathedrals.
The week-long residency, from July 21-30, 2018, requires funding for our five professional Section Leaders and Director of Music. We also aim to offer financial assistance for other members of the choir who might not be able to afford the full amount. The cost per person is around $2200, which includes flights, air and ground transportation, hotel accommodation, and some meals.
The residency is a wonderful opportunity for our choir to connect with the roots of the English choral tradition; a rich musical heritage stretching back many centuries. This tradition also forms the core of our music ministry at St. Thomas's, and the choir is committed to musical excellence. They will act as ambassadors for St. Thomas's Church and for the wider musical community in New Haven.
Any amount that you could donate would be greatly appreciated. We thank you for your generosity to this worthy musical and cultural cause.
